Pete -
I read your blog this A.M. (as I do every morning). I think it is great. I look forward to it every day. I have several things that I want to blog but I haven't because I thought it would be a little "overkill" since many of the blogs have been about my family. I was hoping that more people would blog about different subjects. I know that you sent an email telling people about the blog but I dont know how many have actually visited the site because I'm sure there would be much more activity.
Also, some people may not be understand how to register for the first time. I think if this gets going you will have lots of topics and comments. I think if the readers comment just once they will feel much more confident in their ability to blog. I dont know if it would help if you explained in a blog how to register.
Also, I was wondering if it is possible to have an older blog jump to the top if someone comments on that blog. Otherwise the comments will probably not be read unless you comment the day that the blog was written. Lastly, I just want to say thanks for keeping the history of Bass River alive and well.

Jim - Looking foward to hearing more about your family. There is no such thing as "overkill" when it comes to smoozing about old New Gretna. I know you must have a lot of memories and stories about the the "old days", particularly Allen's Dock.
Good suggestion about jumping comments to the top, but I can't do that. I was able to place a list of the five most recent comments at the top of the right side bar. It seems to be working, although it appears there is somewhat of a delay between the posting of a comment and the listing of the comment. Thanks for your input about making comments more easily accessable. It makes the blog more manageable and, hopefully, will foster more communication.
I also can have the Blog automatically send an email to you every time someone leaves a comment. The software allows me to do this for ten email addresses. You are #1 on the list. The next 9 people who send me a request for the same service will be added to the list.
PS- If someone is confused about or having trouble registering, feel free to give me a telephone call, and I'll walk you through the procedure. It's painless! - Pete S.
Jim,
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you are receiving an email when there is a new comment posted. You are the first that I signed up for this service, and I want to be sure that it works.
