Cape May Mathis Family Info Needed

I got the following email regarding desired information for Mathis family members in Cape May County. Unfortunately, I don't have any information connecting them to the Mathises in the New Gretna area. Hopefully, someone out in the Blog-O-Sphere might be able to help.

I'm trying to find information on a Mathis family that lived in Cape May County in the early and mid 1900's. The names I have are Hattie, Olive and Jack. Their father was John Mathis. Hattie may have married a Joe Andrews. That's all the info I have at the moment as my search is just beginning. I came across your blog and thought I'd ask if you had any information. Also, is there ever a Mathis Family reunion in your area?

Great John Mathis is my wife's 6th Great Grandfather.

( John >Micajah>John>Beriah>Caleb>John Emory>George Washington>Emory )

Appreciate any help you may be able to give,

Dick LeGates

I'm not aware of a Mathis family reunion in our area but, perhaps, there is one held somewhere else in New Jersey that I am not aware of.

  1. Regarding the Mathis question in today's blog. I remember a copy of a Mathis genealogy at the Atlantic County Historical Society.
