Herbert Franklin Mathis

This is the eighth, and last, in our photo series on the children of Joshua and Rebecca Grant Mathis. Their eighth child was Herbert Franklin Mathis.

Following is a brief family history from Jean and Murray Harris' "The Mathis Family of Little Egg Harbor".

Herbert Franklin Mathis, son of Joshua H. and Rebecca (Grant) Mathis, born June 27, 1915 at New Gretna, married Kathryn Rader of West Virginia. Children:

i Eugene, born January 4, 1946
ii Nancy, born July 21, 1952, died July 21, 1952
















Well, that about wraps up our photo survey of the children of Joshua and Rebecca Grant Mathis. It's been quite a journey.

    Which of my numerous ancestors are we talking about? Practically everyone in NG is a relative one way or another, including the family just considered. Please refresh my memory as to just who I was searching for at that time. Thanks

    Hi: Beverly. It was the Wiseman, Allens and Cramers. Did you ever contact Kathee from Indiana. She is good at sharing info. and giving advice. George & Mary from VA.

    Hi: Wiseman: My grandfather's grandmother Louisa. She was an Allen who also married an Allen and then Wiseman. That was easy. Them, there Cramer/Cranmers are another story but I am related to one or more branches. Joseph B. Cramer was father to Mary Ann Cramer who married Phineas Kirkbride Mathis who was my great-great-grandfather. And they had 13 or 14 kids! Problem is that there are so many Cramer/Cranmers that it is hard to tell just who is who. Allen: My grandfather's mother was an Allen who married a Mathis and a French.
    Then there are the Frenches, the Lovelands, the Adams, etc., etc.
    One of these days I'd like to make a chart of this tangled up bunch of relatives of mine. It would probably drive the computer program crazy.
